Meetings
We invite you to join us on the first and third Tuesday of each month at
St Gertrude’s Conference Room, Lillian Road, Ramsgate CT11 7DT at 6.45 pm – 8:45 pm.
Guests are always welcome and the first two visits are free.
What happens during a meeting?
No meetings are the same, but they are regularly filled with humour and laughter. We follow a basic structure so that all members know what is going on.
During a typical meeting we hear 2 prepared speeches from different members. These are speeches that members have prepared for the rest of the group to hear. Each speech we deliver gives us a chance to improve our method and performance. After a member has delivered a speech, they are offered feedback by a speech evaluator. The evaluator gives encouragement and points for improvement to help enhance the speech.
The second half of the meeting gives us an opportunity to practice impromptu speaking. The Topics Master gives members a random topic to talk about. Then we try to create an entertaining speech lasting 1-2 minutes on the spot. Needless to say, this can be a very entertaining part of the meeting!
We try to make sure that everyone has a part to play in each meeting. Of course, if members or guests do not want to speak then they can pass if they choose.
What Does it Cost?
Guests are welcome to come along and join in for free. After that, membership is just £6 per month, with nothing extra to pay.
